Quick fit check: family vlog channels
- Type of video
- Family vlogs: day-in-the-life, milestones (birthdays, first days, homecomings, a new baby, moving house), family challenges and shopping games, family travel series, and mom and lifestyle vlogs. Plus the Shorts cut from each episode.
- Proof in family vlogs
- I don’t have a published family vlog edit to show yet. Closest published work I edited: Scarlett Mae’s 24-hour challenge vlog shot in Japan (972,693 views on Oct 13, 2026), long Roblox duo videos for Rex & Alexa (two recent ones run 27 and 26 minutes), and a kids Roblox series for BloxWorld TV. The free 1-minute test on your own footage is how you check it before paying.
- Editing style
- One story per episode, built from the whole day: the setup in the first seconds, the moment the title promises, a short close. Kids’ voices clear over the music, natural colour across phones and camera, no beauty filters. If your channel already has a look (intro, fonts, music), I match it.
- Video length
- Big family channels upload long: in their latest uploads, the long videos ran a median of 31.8 minutes and 57 of 74 were 20 to 40 minutes (YouTube Data API, October 13, 2026). A mom and lifestyle vlog job post asked for 7 to 20 minutes.
- Kids’ privacy
- A privacy pass before every export: house numbers, street signs, car plates, school names and logos, addresses and other families’ children blurred or cut; private rooms flagged for you to decide. You approve the list before upload.
- What you send me
- Every clip from every phone and camera, the order of the day (or a short note), who appears and which names may go on screen, what must never be shown, your music library, and one past video whose style you want to keep.
- Upload schedule
- One episode a week, two or three a week, or a daily series, with Shorts on the days between. Start with one pilot: the free 1-minute test edit.
- Estimated price
- $55–$150 per finished video depending on complexity; up to $300 for some long or complex edits. A 20 to 35 minute episode usually lands between $150 and $300; over 35 minutes, custom quote within 24 hours, after the free 1-minute test. Shorts go into the same quote.
- Turnaround
- First video in 1 to 5 days, then 1 to 2 days; revisions back within 24 hours. Replies usually within a few hours.
- Who you work with
- Kevin Tabares, directly. I review every video before it reaches you.
- Channel language
- English or Spanish.
- Terms
- Paid in USD by PayPal or USDC. No contract, no minimum.
What big family channels upload in 2026
Read with the YouTube Data API on October 13, 2026: the latest 40 uploads of five big family channels that were still posting in October 2026. That is 200 uploads: 126 under 3 minutes (Shorts length) and 74 long videos with a median length of 31.8 minutes. 57 of the 74 long videos run 20 to 40 minutes, 11 are shorter and 6 run 40 minutes or more.
| Channel | Latest 40 uploads | Long videos: median (range) | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Ohana Adventure 4.81M subscribers | 2 long, 38 under 3 min Sep 29 – Oct 13, 2026 | 18 min and 32 min | He left us! GOODBYE to my SON for 2 years! *Very EMOTIONAL* Oct 9, 2026 · 32:16 · 225,411 views |
| Jordan Matter 38.3M subscribers | 29 long, 11 under 3 min Mar 21 – Oct 10, 2026 | 33 min (27 min to 52 min) | I Built a SECRET MALL in my House Sep 26, 2026 · 32:54 · 16,983,609 views |
| Family Fizz 2.77M subscribers | 26 long, 14 under 3 min Dec 13, 2024 – Oct 11, 2026 | 30 min (16 min to 85 min) | SHOPPING For Our NEW HOUSE! Oct 11, 2026 · 38:26 · 94,426 views |
| Family Fun Pack 10.6M subscribers | 13 long, 27 under 3 min Sep 7 – Oct 13, 2026 | 18 min (9 min to 39 min) | We Had to HIDE in Our Hotel Room! Oct 3, 2026 · 33:34 · 31,529 views |
| The Bucket List Family 1.53M subscribers | 4 long, 36 under 3 min May 28 – Oct 12, 2026 | 38 min (21 min to 48 min) | WARNING : if you travel with us, our kids will make you do this.. Sep 27, 2026 · 20:58 · 110,788 views |
Three things in that sample shape the edit:
- The long episode is 20 to 40 minutes. Jordan Matter’s 29 long videos all run between 27 and 52 minutes; 25 of Family Fizz’s 26 long videos pass 20 minutes. That is a lot of screen time to hold with one family’s day, so the structure matters more than the effects.
- The title promises one moment. My Teen Daughter's FIRST HOMECOMING!, LAST GIRLS TRIP BEFORE the BABY IS BORN! *EMOTIONAL*, He left us! GOODBYE to my SON for 2 years! *Very EMOTIONAL*. The edit has to deliver that moment and build towards it, not bury it in the middle of the drive there.
- Most of those uploads are Shorts-length. 126 of 200 were under 3 minutes, and three of the five channels posted more of them than long videos; The Ohana Adventure posted 38 of them in two weeks next to 2 long videos. Every episode is also the raw material for the week’s Shorts.
Some creators want shorter edits. A job post for a mom and lifestyle vlog editor on Handshake (read October 13, 2026) asks to turn 20 to 60 minutes of raw footage into 7 to 20 minute vlogs, three or four a month, calm and personal, with light music and simple text.
How I’d edit your family vlog
A family vlog arrives as hours of clips from two or three phones, a vlog camera and maybe an action camera, shot all day by different people. The work is mostly finding the story in that pile.
- Log the whole day first. Every clip in time order, every camera synced, and the moments marked: the reveal, the first reaction, the line everyone laughs at, the quiet bit that makes the episode human.
- One story per episode. The setup in the first seconds (what today is about), the build, the moment the title promises, a short close. Driving, queues and waiting become a few seconds with a place card, unless something happens there.
- Kids’ voices first. Kids talk over each other and at different distances from the mic. Every voice levelled so nobody gets lost, music low under talking, wind, car and restaurant noise cleaned.
- Natural colour across cameras. Phone and camera footage matched so the family looks the same all day. No skin smoothing or beauty filters on children.
- Text and captions. Names, places and the moment on screen when they help, an SRT file for YouTube’s caption track, and burned-in captions if your style uses them (see captions and subtitles).
- Shorts from the same day. Two or three per episode, each one a complete moment that works without the long video (see Shorts editor for hire).
A privacy pass on your kids before every export
A family vlog puts children on the internet, so before export I go through the whole video looking only for what should not be there. This is an editor’s checklist, not legal advice:
- Where you live and where they study. House numbers, street signs, car plates, school names, logos and uniform crests, addresses on packages: blurred or cut.
- Screens. Phone notifications, maps, messages and anything with a name, address or location on it.
- Other people’s children. Friends at a party, classmates, kids in the background at the park: blurred unless you tell me their parents agreed.
- Private moments. Bath time, changing, shots in bedrooms or bathrooms: flagged for you to decide, never published by default. YouTube’s child safety policy tells creators not to post content featuring minors that is “filmed in private spaces at home such as bedrooms or bathrooms” or that “reveals personal details about a minor” (read October 13, 2026).
- Names and places. Kids’ names and place names go on screen only where you want them.
You get a list of every blur, cut and flag with its timecode, so you approve the final version before upload.
Made for kids: decide it before the edit
YouTube asks every creator to set whether each video is made for kids, and that decision is yours. It changes how the video should end. On a video set as made for kids, YouTube turns off end screens and cards, comments, the notification bell, personalized ads, the miniplayer and save to playlist, among other features (YouTube Help, read October 13, 2026). So:
- Made for kids: no end screen slot, the next-episode pitch goes inside the video, and “comment below” or “ring the bell” lines are cut.
- Not made for kids: I leave the last 5 to 20 seconds clear for the end screen and point to the next episode there.
For reference, of the 200 uploads in the table above, 1 was set as made for kids: Family Fizz’s IF IT FITS IN TROLLEY, I'LL BUY IT FOR CHRISTMAS! (Dec 23, 2024). The factors YouTube uses and a checklist are in my guide to editing YouTube videos for kids.
My closest published work
I don’t have a published family vlog edit to show yet. These are the published videos closest in shape to a family vlog. Lengths and views read with the YouTube Data API on October 13, 2026:
- I Became a GYARU ANGEL in Japan for 24 Hours · Scarlett Mae (300K subscribers) · Jun 22, 2026 · 16:34 · 972,693 views. A 24-hour challenge filmed on location in Japan, cut into one 16-minute story that delivers what the title promises. More on the vlog page.
- ROBLOX BREAKABLE CART OBBY WITH ALEXA! · Rex & Alexa (2.29M subscribers) · Oct 1, 2026 · 27:03 · 22,505 views. I edit for Rex & Alexa now: long videos carried by two voices and their reactions, the same length as a family episode. Another recent one: ROBLOX CARRY THE GLASS WITH ALEXA! (25:52).
- EVIL 1000 TOOK OVER OUR GAME!! Numberblock 1000 Turns EVIL!! SEASON 2 - EP.2 | Roblox · BloxWorld TV (231K subscribers) · Feb 1, 2025 · 9:03 · 1,733,113 views. Earlier work: a kids Roblox series with recurring characters and episodes that follow on from each other. More on the kids channels page.
Plainly: most of the 1,250 videos on my YT Jobs profile are long-form gaming (Roblox, Minecraft); I also edit documentaries and lessons to camera. What carries over to a family vlog is the same work: finding the story in hours of footage, pacing a 20 to 40 minute video, clear voices and Shorts that stand on their own. The free 1-minute test on your footage is how you check it before paying. Every video by channel is in the full portfolio.
Prices
$55–$150 per finished video depending on complexity; up to $300 for some long or complex edits. A typical example by finished length:
| Finished length | Typical price |
|---|---|
| up to 10 min | $55 |
| up to 20 min | $150 |
| up to 35 min | $300 |
| over 35 min | custom quote |
A 15 to 35 minute family episode lands in the second or third row. Shorts cut from each episode go into the same quote. Full terms (payment, revisions, monthly plans) are on the pricing page.
FAQ
Have you edited family vlogs before?
I don’t have a published family vlog edit to show yet. Most of the 1,250 videos on my YT Jobs profile are long-form gaming. That is why the first step is a free 1-minute test on your own footage, before you pay anything.
How much does a family vlog editor cost?
My price is $55–$150 per finished video depending on complexity; up to $300 for some long or complex edits. As a typical example by finished length: up to 10 minutes $55, up to 20 minutes $150, up to 35 minutes $300. In the big family channels I checked, most long videos run 20 to 40 minutes; a weekly episode of 20 to 35 minutes usually lands between $150 and $300, about $600 to $1,200 a month; a 7 to 15 minute vlog is $55 to $150. Shorts cut from each episode go into the same quote. Exact quote within 24 hours, after a free 1-minute test edit.
How long should a family vlog be?
Long, for the big channels. In the latest 40 uploads of five big family channels (YouTube Data API, October 13, 2026), the long videos ran a median of 31.8 minutes, and 57 of 74 were between 20 and 40 minutes. A mom and lifestyle vlog job post I read the same day asked for 7 to 20 minutes. Length should follow the story of the day: if the event only carries 15 minutes, a tight 15 beats a padded 30.
Can you blur my kids’ school, my house and other people’s children?
Yes. Before export I do a privacy pass: house numbers, street signs, car plates, school names and logos, addresses on packages and phone screens, and other families’ children are blurred or cut unless you tell me otherwise. Shots in bedrooms or bathrooms are flagged for you to decide. You get a list of every blur and flag with its timecode, so you approve it before upload.
Should my family vlog be set as made for kids?
That is your decision: YouTube asks the creator to set the audience and I don’t give legal advice. What I do is edit for the setting you choose. On a video set as made for kids there are no end screens, cards, comments or notification bell, so I put the next-episode pitch inside the video and cut “comment below” lines. Of the 200 uploads I checked (the latest 40 from each of five big family channels), 1 was set as made for kids.
What do I need to send you?
All the clips from every phone and camera, in the order of the day or with a short note of what happened when; who appears and which kids’ names may go on screen; anything that must never be shown (school, house, street); your music library; and one past video whose style you want to keep.
Can you cut Shorts from each family vlog?
Yes. Of the 200 uploads I checked (the latest 40 from each of five big family channels), 126 were under 3 minutes. I cut two or three per episode from the same footage, vertical, with captions near the top, each one a complete moment that still makes sense without the long video.
