Your hiring form, answered

Type of video
Cabin and homestead builds, seasons and daily life on the land, gardens and animals, bushcraft and survival trips, catch-and-cook and hunting, off-grid power and water how-tos, and narrated off-grid stories with no face on camera.
Editing style
Calm and natural by default: the sound of the work up front, music low and only between steps, long builds compressed with time-lapses and a day counter, measurements and costs on screen when you say them. Faster cutting for survival challenges and family story episodes, if that is your channel.
Long videos + Shorts
Long videos are the main job. Shorts cut from the same footage on request: one complete moment each (the log going up, the catch, the reveal), vertical, with captions near the top.
Video length
Mostly 15 to 45 minutes: the range of 68 of the 96 latest long videos on eight big outdoor and homestead channels (measured on October 13, 2026). Longer films too: I edit Swaylemc’s full movies, 60 to 234 minutes each.
How many videos
One a week, two a week or near daily. Start with one video: the free 1-minute test on your own footage.
What you send me
Every clip from the shoot, by day (main camera, GoPro, phone, drone), a few lines per day on what you did, what went wrong and the measurements or costs, your voiceover if you narrate afterwards, and one of your videos whose feel you want to keep.
Monthly budget
At $55 to $150 per finished video (up to $300 for some long or complex edits), a 20-minute episode is about $150 and a 35-minute one about $300: four 20-minute episodes a month come to about $600, four 35-minute ones to about $1,200. Shorter how-tos cost less. Exact quote within 24 hours, after the free test.
Turnaround
First video in 1 to 5 days, then 1 to 2 days; revisions back within 24 hours. Replies usually within a few hours.
Who you work with
Kevin Tabares, directly. I review every video before it reaches you.
Closest proof
I don’t have a published homestead or off-grid edit to show yet. Closest: Scarlett Mae’s on-location 24-hour vlog (972K views), The Spy Show’s narrated documentaries and Swaylemc’s full movies. Details below.
Channel language
English or Spanish.
Terms
Paid in USD by PayPal or USDC. No contract, no minimum.

Two big names are left out on purpose: Outdoor Boys (20.8M subscribers) has not posted a long video since November 22, 2025, and the latest long uploads of OFF GRID with DOUG & STACY (1.32M) are mostly news commentary. What the eight active channels show about the edit:

How I would edit your outdoor and homestead videos

I haven’t got a published homestead edit to point to, so this is how I would cut yours, built on what I already do every week on long-form videos.

The work sounds like work

The axe, the drawknife, the fire and the rain are part of why people watch. I keep that sound up front and clean the wind noise; music comes in low between steps and stays out of the quiet scenes. If you narrate afterwards, your voice sits on top of the natural sound, not instead of it.

Weeks of building, compressed without losing the story

From a locked-off tripod angle, a whole day of notching logs becomes a ten-second time-lapse; a day or week counter keeps viewers oriented; before and after are shown from the same spot. What stays at real speed: the first time you use a new technique, the mistake and how you fixed it, and the moment it works. A build that took months or years gets chapters by season, so a 90-minute film still has a shape.

Solo filming, cleaned up

Walking to the tripod and back, checking the frame, restarting a take: cut, except one or two moments that show you really are out there alone. Phone, GoPro, drone and main camera are matched so the cuts between them don’t jump.

Light that changes all day

Snow, overcast, golden hour and the inside of a dark cabin can all land in one episode. I keep the colour natural and balanced across days and cameras, so the forest stays green and you look the same from the first scene to the last.

Teach the step

Measurements, materials and costs go on screen when you say them, spelled and checked. Long how-to videos get chapters so a viewer can come back to the one step they need.

Story episodes open on the problem

For family homestead series, the sick animal, the inspection day or the flood goes first and the backstory after; reactions are kept whole. What the title promises shows up in the first 30 seconds.

Hunting, trapping and butchering

YouTube’s violent or graphic content policy (read on October 13, 2026) treats hunting, trapping and food preparation as standard practices, but it can age-restrict graphic footage, and for educational use it wants the context in the images or audio of the video itself; the title or description is not enough. I keep the explanation on screen and in your voice, show as much as you choose, and flag any shot that might trigger an age restriction before you upload.

Narrated off-grid channels without a face

From your script and voiceover I find the footage, keep a license log of every stock clip and add simple maps and graphics: the same job I do for The Spy Show’s documentary series. More on the faceless channels page.

Closest real work

None of these is a homestead or off-grid video. They are the closest public videos I can show; lengths and views read with the YouTube Data API on October 13, 2026.

Plainly. Proven: my YT Jobs profile tracks 1,250 videos, with 20 client reviews averaging 9.8/10; most of it is long-form gaming (Roblox, Minecraft), plus narrated documentaries and an on-location travel vlog. Not proven yet: a published homestead or off-grid edit I can link, and the eye for which woodworking or animal-care step your viewers want to see in full. How to check before paying: the free 1-minute test edit on your own footage.

Prices

$55–$150 per finished video depending on complexity; up to $300 for some long or complex edits. A typical example by finished length:

Finished lengthTypical price
up to 10 min$55
up to 20 min$150
up to 35 min$300
over 35 mincustom quote

Of the 96 outdoor and homestead videos I measured, 55 would land in the $150 or $300 row and 33 run past 35 minutes; those, like long compilations, are quoted after the test. Shorts cut from each video go into the same quote. Full terms (payment, revisions, monthly plans) are on the pricing page.

FAQ

Have you edited homestead or off-grid videos before?

I don’t have a published homestead or off-grid edit I can show you yet. My closest public work is Scarlett Mae’s on-location Japan vlog (972K views), The Spy Show’s narrated documentaries and Swaylemc’s full movies of 60 to 234 minutes. Most of the 1,250 videos on my YT Jobs profile are long-form gaming. Start with a free 1-minute test on your own footage before you pay anything.

How much does it cost to edit a homestead or off-grid YouTube video?

$55–$150 per finished video depending on complexity; up to $300 for some long or complex edits. By finished length: up to 10 minutes $55, up to 20 minutes $150, up to 35 minutes $300, longer by quote. On the eight big channels I measured, 55 of the 96 latest long videos would land in the $150 or $300 row and 33 run past 35 minutes, which get a custom quote. Exact quote within 24 hours, after a free 1-minute test edit.

Can you turn weeks of build footage into one video?

Yes. Send every clip sorted by day, with a few lines on what happened. I compress repeated work into time-lapses with a day counter, keep each new technique, each mistake and its fix at real speed, and end on the finished result. Builds that took months or years get chapters by season.

Do you add music, or keep the natural sound?

Natural sound first: the axe, the saw, the fire and the rain stay up front, with the wind noise cleaned. Music comes in low between steps, from your licensed library (Epidemic Sound, Artlist or whatever your channel uses), so it is cleared for your channel.

Can you edit hunting, trapping or butchering scenes?

Yes, and you decide how much to show. YouTube’s violent or graphic content policy (read on October 13, 2026) treats hunting, trapping and food preparation as standard practices, but it can age-restrict graphic footage, and for educational use it wants the context in the images or audio of the video itself, not only in the title or description. I keep that context on screen and in your voice, and flag any shot that might be age-restricted before you upload.

What should I send my editor?

All the clips from the shoot sorted by day (main camera, GoPro, phone, drone), a few lines per day on what you did, what went wrong and the measurements or costs, your voiceover if you narrate afterwards, your music library, and one of your videos whose feel you want to keep.

Can you cut Shorts from my outdoor videos too?

Yes, on request, from the same footage: one complete moment per Short (the log going up, the catch, the first cut with a new tool), vertical, with captions near the top. Seven of the eight big channels I measured also upload clips of three minutes or less.

Send me one day of footage

Send me your channel link and the clips from one day of shooting through the contact form. I’ll edit one minute of it for free and reply with an exact quote.
