How do you edit Roblox tycoon and simulator videos for YouTube?

Open on the start state and the goal (a noob with nothing, $0 to a trillion) and keep a money or stat counter on screen the whole way. Compress the grind into short upgrade montages, stop for each big unlock or hatch, compare before and after, and end on the final number against the goal.

The steps:

  1. Show the start state and the goal in the first seconds.
  2. Keep the number on screen: money, level, rarity.
  3. Compress the grind into upgrade montages.
  4. Stop for every big unlock.
  5. Build suspense on hatches, spins and rolls.
  6. Use before and after comparisons and base tours.
  7. Get game facts right: codes, prices, updates.
  8. End on the final tally against the goal.

I edit Roblox tycoon and simulator videos for Puff Blox (Grow a Garden, Restaurant Tycoon, Steal a Brainrot), plus Steal a Brainrot videos for Rex & Alexa and DakBlox.

Step 1: Show the start state and the goal in the first seconds

Tycoon and simulator videos are progress stories. The viewer stays to watch something small become something big, so they need to see how small it starts and how big it has to get. Look at the titles: “Went from Noob to TRILLIONAIRE”, “$0 to $1 Trillion”, “Starting Over as NOOB”. The start and the goal are the whole promise.

Open on the empty plot, the starter pet or the zero balance, say the goal out loud and put it on screen. Then, if you have it, flash the end state for a second (the finished base, the rarest pet) and go back to the start. The viewer now knows what they are waiting for.

Step 2: Keep the number on screen: money, level, rarity

In this format the number is the plot. Money, level, strength, rebirths, rarity: whatever the goal is measured in should be visible most of the video. Many games already show it in the UI, but it is often small or hidden on a phone screen. Add your own counter in a fixed spot, large enough to read.

Mark the milestones: the first million, the first rebirth, the first legendary. A quick zoom on the counter and a sound hit when it crosses a round number tells the viewer progress just happened. Money numbers are big in this niche, so keep them readable: “$93.5M” reads faster than “$93,538,284” on a counter, even if the title uses the full number.

Step 3: Compress the grind into upgrade montages

Tycoons and simulators are built on repetition: click, collect, sell, upgrade, again. The recording is mostly grind, and the video should be mostly the results of the grind. Keep a few seconds of each new kind of grind so the viewer understands it, then compress it into a montage: speed ramps, quick cuts, the counter climbing, music carrying it.

Every montage should end on what it paid for: the upgrade, the new area, the better pet. A montage that ends on nothing is just a fast forward. A useful rule of thumb (mine, not a measured number): if a montage runs longer than the beat it leads to, cut it shorter.

Step 4: Stop for every big unlock

Each meaningful purchase or unlock is a beat: the new floor of the tycoon, the next zone, the upgrade that doubles income. Slow down for it. Show the price, the click, the reveal, and the reaction. Then show what it changes, for example income per second going up, so the viewer sees why it mattered.

Not every purchase needs this. Small upgrades go in the montage; the big ones get their own moment. Picking which is which is most of the edit, and it is easier if the creator flags the big ones while recording. How to record gameplay for your editor covers markers and notes.

Step 5: Build suspense on hatches, spins and rolls

Egg hatches, pet rolls, crate openings and dice spins are the gambling moments of the genre, and they are where viewers lean in. Edit them like a reveal:

Show results honestly. If the rare pet came on the 200th hatch, the montage can be short, but the counter should still say 200.

Step 6: Use before and after comparisons and base tours

The fastest way to show progress is a side by side: the base at the start against the base now, the noob avatar against the maxed one, income then and income now. Use one at each big milestone and one at the end.

A short base tour near the end lets the viewer enjoy what was built. Keep it moving with a slow camera and music, not a long walk around. If the game has a leaderboard, showing the player’s name climbing it is a clean payoff for a “#1 player” video.

Step 7: Get game facts right: codes, prices, updates

Simulator and tycoon audiences pause videos to copy codes, check prices and compare pets. Wrong on-screen information gets called out in the comments. Check every code, price and stat on screen against the recording before export.

This is a habit from my news work: I have edited Roblox Rivals news for Mud since March 2025, about three videos a week, with codes and update details on screen and the new item shown first. The same rule applies to an update video for a simulator: show the new thing first, then explain it.

Step 8: End on the final tally against the goal

The ending is the number. Show the final balance, level or rarest pet, compare it to the goal set at the start, and hold the reaction. If the goal wasn’t reached, say so: an honest miss with a plan for next time is still an ending. Then finish quickly.

The thumbnail usually shows the same thing: the big number, the rare pet, or the before and after. Check that it reads on a phone with the thumbnail preview tool, and run the export through the loudness checker before upload.

How long are Roblox tycoon and simulator videos in 2026?

Measured on October 18, 2026, on the latest 12 uploads of each channel:

ChannelMain formatRangeMedian
ElkonnPet Simulator 99 guides8:23 to 17:4513:22
mayrushartnoob to master, eggs8:34 to 33:5517:24
RussoPlayspet simulators12:35 to 21:1517:40
JONA G.noob to pro series12:33 to 22:5518:50
Superdanshotycoons, 100 days16:29 to 39:0621:38
OTTER ON ROBLOXtycoon and job games17:15 to 31:5926:48
Quackstycoons, max level28:26 to 48:5835:48

Guide channels run shortest; long progress stories run longest. JONA G. uses one title pattern for every episode (“Noob to Master in [game] Noob to Pro!”), which shows how much of this niche is a repeatable series. Twelve uploads per channel is a small sample: use it as a range, not a target.

Common mistakes in tycoon and simulator edits

What I edit in this format

I edit for Puff Blox, the Roblox channel of Puff, where tycoon and simulator games are most of the work: Went from Noob to TRILLIONAIRE In Grow a Garden, $0 to $1 Trillion Using ONLY HINOMAI Seeds in Grow a Garden and Becoming the BEST Chef in Roblox Restaurant Tycoon. I also edit Steal a Brainrot videos for Rex & Alexa, like ROBLOX STEAL A BRAINROT WITH ALEXA!, and for DakBlox, like MODDED STEAL A BRAINROT IS WILD.... Earlier I cut noob to OP videos for OrangeBroBlox, such as Starting Over as NOOB to OP SECRET in Escape Tsunami For Brainrots. The Roblox tycoon page, the simulator page and the noob to pro page show how I work on these.

Roblox tycoon and simulator editing FAQ

How long should a Roblox tycoon or simulator video be?

It depends on the channel more than the game. Measured on October 18, 2026 on each channel’s latest 12 uploads: Elkonn 13:22 median, mayrushart 17:24, RussoPlays 17:40, JONA G. 18:50, Superdansho 21:38, OTTER ON ROBLOX 26:48 and Quacks 35:48. Most land between about 15 and 35 minutes.

How do you make a noob to pro video interesting?

Make the progress visible. Show the weak start, set a clear goal, keep the stat or money on screen, and give each big jump its own moment. The viewer stays to see the number reach the goal.

Should you cut out the grinding in a simulator video?

Most of it. Keep a few seconds so the viewer knows what the grind looks like, then compress it into a montage that ends on the upgrade it paid for. The upgrade is the beat; the grind is the setup.

How do you edit egg or pet hatching in Roblox videos?

Slow down. Build up to the hatch with the odds or the rarity on screen, give the reveal a beat of silence and a sound hit, and hold the reaction. Skip common results quickly so the rare one stands out.

Do you need to show codes and update details on screen?

If the video mentions them, yes. Viewers pause to copy codes and compare prices, so on-screen text needs to be exact and readable. Check it against the game before export.
