Chess YouTube video editor for hire
I’m Kevin Tabares, a long-form YouTube editor. I edit for 1.26M–2.29M-subscriber gaming channels (Mud, Puff, Rex & Alexa), plus quiz videos for jayesss_ and documentaries for The Spy Show. I haven’t edited chess videos for a client yet, so start with a free 1-minute test on one of your games. $55–$150 per finished video depending on complexity; up to $300 for some long or complex edits.
Free 1-minute test edit · From $55 per video · No contract · Revisions back within 24 h
9.8/10 average: 20 YT Jobs reviews from 19 client channels, 17 of them a perfect 10/10
Quick fit check: is this editor right for your channel?
- Video types
- Rating speedrun series by episode, reactions to top players’ games, engine and AI battles, games against guests from other communities, tournament and Olympiad vlogs, chess in public, opening and endgame lessons, chess history and famous games
- Editing style
- What I would do for chess: the board big and readable with arrows on the squares you explain, thinking time cut and the clock kept when it matters, one sound and one card for blunders and brilliant moves, a rating counter that carries across a speedrun. Close to jayesss_’s versus-the-AI quiz and my scripted documentary work
- Video length
- Chess videos run 15 to 45 minutes: GothamChess’s 12 latest 21 to 42 (median about 27), Eric Rosen’s speedrun episodes up to 50 (median about 38) and Anna Cramling’s mostly under 20, measured on Oct 18, 2026. Most land in the $150 or $300 package. I also edit longer: Swaylemc’s full movies on my YT Jobs profile run 60 to 234 minutes.
- Upload schedule
- One video only, 1 video per week, 2–3 videos per week, 4 videos per month or several a week (Mud: about 3 a week). Start with one pilot: the free 1-minute test edit.
- Format
- Long-form YouTube videos are the core. YouTube Shorts cut from each long video on request.
- What you send me
- Gameplay and voice recording, ready to edit, or long recordings that need trimming and story building. Separate mic tracks help.
- Estimated price
- About $55 to $150 per finished video (up to $300 for some long or complex edits), depending on length, raw footage and effects. That fits the ‘$50+’ and ‘$100–$300 per video’ boxes for most long videos. Four videos a month: about $220 to $600 (more for long or complex videos); a $500 a month budget usually covers two to four long videos, depending on length. Exact quote within 24 hours, after a free 1-minute test edit.
- Channel size
- From under 1K subscribers (Mr. Marticson, 834) and small to mid-size channels (ThatNoob 4.9K, Crazz 10.7K, DakBlox 82.6K: 0 to 2M+ views in six months) up to 2M+ (Rex 2.29M, Puff 1.83M, Mud 1.26M)
- Turnaround
- First video in 1 to 5 days, then 1 to 2 days; revisions back within 24 hours
- Track record
- Proven YouTube results: 1,250 videos tracked on YT Jobs and 20 reviews from 19 client channels, 17 of them 10/10. Long-term work: Mud since March 2025, about 3 videos a week.
- Who you work with
- Kevin Tabares, directly. I review every video before it reaches you.
- Channel language
- English or Spanish
- Terms
- Paid in USD by PayPal or USDC. No contract, no minimum.
- Closest proof
- I haven’t edited chess for a client yet. Closest long-form work: “I Tried to Outsmart Akinator BUT He CHEATED?!” on jayesss_ (511K subscribers), 12.9K views; “Can You Guess the Marvel Movie From JUST ONE FRAME?” on jayesss_ (511K subscribers), 9.7K views
My experience and chess, plainly
- Proven: My YT Jobs profile tracks 1,250+ videos and 147M+ views, with 20 client reviews averaging 9.8/10. I edit for Mud (1.26M subscribers), Puff (1.83M) and Rex & Alexa (2.29M); for Mud since March 2025, about 3 videos a week.
- Not proven yet: Chess itself: I can’t judge a position on sight, so I would never decide which move is the blunder. The arrows and highlights would follow your commentary and your notes, and the free 1-minute test shows whether that works for you.
- How to check it before paying: The free 1-minute test edit on your own chess footage, before you pay anything.
What big chess channels upload in October 2026
Measured on October 18, 2026, from the 12 most recent long videos on three channels: GothamChess, Eric Rosen and Anna Cramling.
- AI battles and reactions: GothamChess uploads almost daily, 21 to 42 minutes, with matches between AI models and reactions to record ratings and big games.
- Guests from other worlds: “Can A Minecraft Legend Play Chess?” and “TYLER1 vs GOTHAM CHESS BATTLE”.
- Speedruns by episode: 10 of Eric Rosen’s last 12 are “ChessMood Speedrun” episodes; GothamChess’s “CHESS SPEEDRUN IS BACK” and other channels’ numbered speedruns show the format is everywhere.
- Tournaments and people: Anna Cramling’s Chess Olympiad videos, games with her grandmaster mother and “Girl in Bar is INSANELY Good at Chess”.
Under all of them the same job for the edit: make a board readable on a phone and keep thinking time from killing the pace.
How I would edit your chess videos
No chess creator has sent me footage yet, so read this as my plan. It comes from the quiz and versus-the-AI videos I edit for jayesss_, the scripted documentaries I edit for The Spy Show and the community news I cut for Mud’s Roblox Rivals News.
A board you can read on a phone
Most viewers watch on a phone. I would keep the board as large as the layout allows, the facecam small and out of the way, and add arrows and square highlights when your commentary points at a move, so viewers see what you see without pausing.
Cut the thinking, keep the clock
Long thinks fold down to the moment you decide, with your spoken thought kept. In blitz and bullet, the last seconds on the clock stay at real speed with the clock enlarged, because that is where the tension is.
One sound and one card for big moves
A blunder and a brilliant move each get one sound and one small card, designed once and reused in every video, so regular viewers recognise them. Memes go on the joke, not on every capture.
A rating counter for speedruns
For a speedrun series, a rating counter in the same corner and style in every episode, with the target on screen from the first seconds and a short recap of where the run stands at the start of each episode.
AI battles told like a match
For engine or AI battles, the stakes go first (who plays, what they claim), then the game with your commentary on top, the waiting between moves cut out, and the result shown soon after the last move instead of trailing off, the way I build jayesss_’s video against Akinator.
History and lessons from a script
For a famous game or a chess history video, your script and voice go down first, then the board, the photos and the dates under each line, as in my documentary work for The Spy Show.
Closest real examples of my gaming work
Videos I edited, chosen because their format is closest to a chess video: jayesss_’s video against Akinator and a one-frame quiz, a documentary for The Spy Show and a community news episode for Mud. Watch the first minute of the one closest to your format.

Why it's close: A creator trying to beat an AI that seems to cheat: the same story as a chess video against an engine or an AI model. - Can You Guess the Marvel Movie From JUST ONE FRAME? · jayesss_ (511K subscribers) · 9,721 views · 8 min · Oct 1, 2026
Why it's close: A guessing game built on reading one image fast, the same thinking-out-loud pace as a puzzle or a speed game. - Eli Cohen: Mossad’s Greatest Spy | True Life Spy Stories · THE SPY SHOW (832 subscribers) · 90 views · 21 min · Sep 24, 2026
Why it's close: A narrated documentary cut from a script and a voiceover, the format of a chess history or famous-game video. - Players are VERY MAD... (Roblox Rivals News) + @SlingshotBwaii 1v1 · Mud (1.26M subscribers) · 334,674 views · 13 min · Sep 9, 2026
Why it's close: A community news episode plus a 1v1 against another creator: drama, then the game.

FAQ
Have you edited chess videos before?
No, I haven’t edited chess videos for a client yet. My long-form gaming work is Roblox (Rex & Alexa, Mud), Minecraft (Puff, Swaylemc’s full movies), horror games and Madden tournaments, all listed on my YT Jobs profile. The free 1-minute test edit on your own chess footage is how you judge my chess edit before paying anything.
Can you edit my chess videos?
Yes. Send the raw recording of one session (screen and facecam, with your voice on its own track if you can) and I edit one minute of it for free, so you can judge the cut before paying. I edit long-form videos, from 10 minutes to full movies of several hours, and cut Shorts from them if you want them.
Do you need to know chess to edit my videos?
Knowing the rules helps, but the analysis is yours. I follow your commentary: when you point at a square I highlight it, when you call a blunder it gets the blunder card. A note of the key moves in a long session makes it faster.
Can you edit a speedrun series every week?
Yes. After the first episode the intro, the cards and the rating counter are reused, so each episode is faster to edit. First video in 1 to 5 days, then 1 to 2 days.
Can you cut Shorts from my games?
Yes. A brilliant move or a clock scramble from the long video, reframed for vertical with the board big. Long-form is my main work, so the Shorts come from the video I edit.
How much does a chess YouTube editor cost?
My price is $55–$150 per finished video depending on complexity; up to $300 for some long or complex edits. By finished length: up to 10 minutes $55, up to 20 minutes $150, up to 35 minutes $300; longer videos get a custom quote. No contract and no minimum.
