Quick fit check: is this editor right for your channel?

Video types
Campaign series, one episode per session, world conquest challenges, playing the weakest nation or faction, multiplayer games against several players, broken builds and exploits, first looks at a new strategy game
Editing style
What I would do for strategy videos: the map as the main character, with borders and fronts zoomed and annotated, a turn or year counter that never moves, expansion shown as a time-lapse, menus frozen and labelled when a decision matters and battles cut to the move that decides them. Close to the maps and timelines I make for The Spy Show and Puff Blox’s tower defense
Video length
Strategy videos on big channels run long (Chaotic Florius’s recent uploads 19 minutes to 1 hour 12, PotatoMcWhiskey’s about 48 minutes to 1 hour 43, Ursa Ryan’s 43 minutes to 2.5 hours, measured on Oct 18, 2026), so most get a custom quote. I also edit longer: Swaylemc’s full movies on my YT Jobs profile run 60 to 234 minutes.
Upload schedule
One video only, 1 video per week, 2–3 videos per week, 4 videos per month or several a week (Mud: about 3 a week). Start with one pilot: the free 1-minute test edit.
Format
Long-form YouTube videos are the core. YouTube Shorts cut from each long video on request.
What you send me
Gameplay and voice recording, ready to edit, or long recordings that need trimming and story building. Separate mic tracks help.
Estimated price
About $55 to $150 per finished video (up to $300 for some long or complex edits), depending on length, raw footage and effects. That fits the ‘$50+’ and ‘$100–$300 per video’ boxes for most long videos. Four videos a month: about $220 to $600 (more for long or complex videos); a $500 a month budget usually covers two to four long videos, depending on length. Exact quote within 24 hours, after a free 1-minute test edit.
Channel size
From under 1K subscribers (Mr. Marticson, 834) and small to mid-size channels (ThatNoob 4.9K, Crazz 10.7K, DakBlox 82.6K: 0 to 2M+ views in six months) up to 2M+ (Rex 2.29M, Puff 1.83M, Mud 1.26M)
Turnaround
First video in 1 to 5 days, then 1 to 2 days; revisions back within 24 hours
Track record
Proven YouTube results: 1,250 videos tracked on YT Jobs and 20 reviews from 19 client channels, 17 of them 10/10. Long-term work: Mud since March 2025, about 3 videos a week.

My experience and strategy game, plainly

What big strategy channels upload in October 2026

Measured on October 18, 2026, from the 12 most recent videos of three strategy channels: PotatoMcWhiskey (Endless Legend 2, Crusader Kings III and Civilization VII; about 48 minutes to 1 hour 43), Ursa Ryan (Civilization VI and VII on huge Earth maps; 43 minutes to 2.5 hours) and Chaotic Florius (Hearts of Iron IV; 19 minutes to 1 hour 12). The formats that keep coming back:

How I would edit your strategy game videos

No strategy channel has sent me footage yet, so read this as my plan for your video. Each point comes from real work of mine: the maps and timelines I make for The Spy Show, Puff Blox’s tower defense videos and a long ranked BedWars list from my work for BaconsOwnTheUniverse.

The map is the main character

A strategy video is a story told on a map. I would zoom on the border or the front that matters, add a simple arrow or highlight for the move you are describing and come back to the full map at each turning point, so viewers always see the big picture.

A turn or year counter that never moves

The turn or the in-game year, in the same corner and style for the whole series, so viewers know how far the campaign has gone when the edit jumps. It is the same kind of counter I keep in every Roblox challenge series I edit.

Expansion as a time-lapse

Dozens of turns of building and settling can be one short time-lapse of the map changing color, with your comment on the plan over it, then back to normal speed when a war or a crisis starts.

Menus frozen when a decision matters

Focus trees, tech trees and city screens are where strategy is decided, and they are unreadable on a phone. I would freeze the screen, zoom on the choice and add a short label, then cut back to the map to show what it changed.

Battles cut to the move that decides them

A war can take an hour of play. I would keep the plan, the moment the front breaks and the result, with the score on screen, the way I keep the decisive moment of each round in Puff Blox’s tower defense videos.

Every episode opens with a map recap

For a campaign series I would open each episode with a 20 to 30 second map recap of the empire, the threat and the goal, then go straight to the promise of today’s episode.

Chapters by era or by war

For one to two hour videos I would add YouTube chapters at each era or war, keep one style of titles and level the loudness across the whole session.

Closest real examples of my gaming work

Five videos from my work for Puff Blox, The Spy Show, BaconsOwnTheUniverse and SquadZilla, chosen because their format sits closest to a strategy video: tower defense where every placement matters, a documentary told with maps and timelines, a long explained ranking and a tournament. Watch the first minute of the one closest to your format.

None of these is strategy game. Views from the YouTube Data API on Oct 13, 2026; links open the video on YouTube.

FAQ

Have you edited strategy game videos before?

No, I haven’t edited PC strategy games (Civilization, Hearts of Iron IV, Crusader Kings, Total War) for a client yet. The closest is tower defense in Roblox for Puff Blox, plus the maps and timelines I make for The Spy Show’s documentaries, all on my YT Jobs profile. The free 1-minute test edit on your own footage is how you judge my cut before paying anything.

Can you edit my strategy game videos?

Yes. Send one session or the footage for one section with your voice on a separate track if you have it, and I edit one minute of it for free, so you can judge the cut before paying. I edit long-form videos from 10 minutes to several hours and cut Shorts from them if you want them.

Can you cut a five-hour campaign session into one episode?

Yes. Send it with notes or timestamps for the turns that matter. I would keep the decisions, the wars and the turning points, and compress the rest with the turn counter and a time-lapse of the map.

Do you need to understand the game?

It helps me if you send short notes on what you are doing and why. I check names of nations, factions and mechanics against your notes before delivery.

Can you add map arrows and highlights?

Yes. I would design one simple style (arrows, outlines, labels) and use it in every episode, as I do with the maps for The Spy Show.

How much does a strategy game YouTube editor cost?

My price is $55–$150 per finished video depending on complexity; up to $300 for some long or complex edits. By finished length: up to 10 minutes $55, up to 20 minutes $150, up to 35 minutes $300; longer videos get a custom quote. No contract and no minimum.

Send me your strategy game footage

Send me your channel link and one raw recording through the contact form. I’ll edit one minute of it for free and reply with an exact quote.
