“What if” YouTube video editor for hire
I’m Kevin Tabares, a long-form YouTube editor. For “what if” videos I would put your question on screen first and build the chain of events in numbered steps, with diagrams and maps. I haven’t edited “what if” videos for a client yet; my closest work is the Tenerife documentary I delivered for The Interpreter. $55–$150 per finished video depending on complexity; up to $300 for some long or complex edits.
Free 1-minute test edit · From $55 per video · No contract · Revisions back within 24 h
9.8/10 average: 20 YT Jobs reviews from 19 client channels, 17 of them a perfect 10/10
Quick fit check: is this editor right for your channel?
- Video types
- What if scenarios about the planet and space, history that went another way, survival scenarios, “what happens to your body” explainers, the future of a city or a technology, scale comparisons
- Editing style
- What I would do for “what if” videos: the question on screen in the first seconds, the chain of events in numbered steps, diagrams and maps that build with the voice, a timeline when the scenario runs over years, and stock footage that matches each step. With the method of my narrated documentaries
- Video length
- I edit from 8-minute videos to feature-length. Up to 20 minutes is the $150 package and up to 35 minutes the $300 one; longer videos get a custom quote. The Tenerife documentary runs 13 minutes and the Spy Show episode 14; Swaylemc’s full movies on my YT Jobs profile run 60 to 234 minutes.
- Upload schedule
- One video only, 1 video per week, 2–3 videos per week, 4 videos per month or several a week (Mud: about 3 a week). Start with one pilot: the free 1-minute test edit.
- Format
- Long-form YouTube videos are the core. YouTube Shorts cut from each long video on request.
- What you send me
- A finished script and narration (script and voiceover). I edit and find the visuals: archive footage, licensed stock, maps, timelines and graphics.
- Estimated price
- About $55 to $150 per finished video (up to $300 for some long or complex edits), depending on length, raw footage and effects. That fits the ‘$50+’ and ‘$100–$300 per video’ boxes for most long videos. Four videos a month: about $220 to $600 (more for long or complex videos); a $500 a month budget usually covers two to four long videos, depending on length. Exact quote within 24 hours, after a free 1-minute test edit.
- Channel size
- From under 1K subscribers (Mr. Marticson, 834) and small to mid-size channels (ThatNoob 4.9K, Crazz 10.7K, DakBlox 82.6K: 0 to 2M+ views in six months) up to 2M+ (Rex 2.29M, Puff 1.83M, Mud 1.26M)
- Turnaround
- First video in 1 to 5 days, then 1 to 2 days; revisions back within 24 hours
- Track record
- Proven YouTube results: 1,277 videos tracked on YT Jobs and 20 reviews from 19 client channels, 17 of them 10/10. Long-term work: Mud since March 2025, about 3 videos a week.

- Channel language
- English or Spanish
- Terms
- Paid in USD by PayPal or USDC. No contract, no minimum.
- Closest proof
- I haven’t edited “what if” videos for a client yet. Closest long-form work: “The Tenerife Disaster: The Deadliest Crash in Aviation History” on The Interpreter (78K subscribers), 7.7K views; “Operation Diamond: How Mossad Stole a Soviet Jet | True Spy Stories” on The Spy Show (832 subscribers), 15 views
My experience with “what if” videos, plainly
- Proven: I delivered The Interpreter’s Tenerife disaster documentary, one event told step by step with diagrams, quote cards and text cards, and I edit The Spy Show, a narrated series where each line gets the image of what it says.
- Not proven yet: “What if” videos for a client, and full 3D animation: big “what if” channels often animate every scene, and my work is narrated documentaries built on archive, stock, maps and diagrams. The science in the script is yours.
- How to check it before paying: A free 1-minute test edit on the first steps of your scenario, before you pay anything.
How I would edit your “what if” videos
I haven’t edited a “what if” channel yet, so this is the plan I would follow with your script, built on the step by step structure of the Tenerife documentary I delivered.
The question in the first seconds
A “what if” video sells one question. It goes on screen as text in the first seconds, over the image that makes it feel real.
A chain of events, in steps
A hypothetical runs on cause and effect: first this, then that. Each step gets a number or a card, so the viewer can follow the chain without getting lost.
Diagrams that build
When the script explains how something works, a simple diagram builds piece by piece with the voice, the way the diagrams in the Tenerife documentary I delivered for The Interpreter do.
Time, made visible
When the scenario runs over days, years or millions of years, a timeline or a counter in one corner shows how far along it is.
Footage that matches each step
No random space or city footage under every line: each step gets an image that shows that step, or a diagram when no footage exists.
Closest real examples of my work
The Tenerife documentary I delivered and an episode of The Spy Show, which I edit. Neither is a “what if” video, but both follow a chain of events, one step at a time.
These are not “what if” videos, but the closest work I’ve edited. Views from the YouTube Data API on Oct 13, 2026; links open the video on YouTube.
- The Tenerife Disaster: The Deadliest Crash in Aviation History · The Interpreter (78K subscribers) · 7,687 views · 13 min · Aug 13, 2026
Why it's close: The Tenerife disaster documentary I delivered for The Interpreter, 13 minutes: one event told step by step from three points of view, with diagrams and text cards for the key facts. - Operation Diamond: How Mossad Stole a Soviet Jet | True Spy Stories · The Spy Show (832 subscribers) · 15 views · 14 min · Oct 2, 2026
Why it's close: A Spy Show episode, 14 minutes, on how Mossad stole a Soviet jet: a “how it happened” story, the cause and effect a “what if” script runs on too.

FAQ
Have you edited “what if” videos before?
No, I haven’t edited “what if” videos for a client yet. The closest is the Tenerife disaster documentary I delivered for The Interpreter, one chain of events with diagrams and text cards, and The Spy Show, a narrated series I edit; both are on my YT Jobs profile. A free 1-minute test edit on the opening of your scenario shows how I would build it.
Can you edit my “what if” videos?
Yes. Send the script, the voiceover and any renders or reference images you have, and I edit one minute for free. I find stock for each step, build the diagrams and timelines, and can cut Shorts from the long video.
Can you animate my videos in 3D?
Not in full 3D: my work is editing with stock, archive, maps and 2D diagrams. If your style needs 3D, I can edit around renders you send me.
Do you check the science?
The facts are yours: I put on screen what your script says and flag numbers that look inconsistent, but I don’t verify the science.
