Best faceless and documentary YouTube editors for hire in 2026, compared by budget and need

Disclosure: I'm Kevin Tabares and I'm one of the editors on this list. My documentary and faceless work is newer than my gaming work; my entry below lists all of it. Everyone else's figures come from their own public page, read on October 13, 2026 and linked in the table, which is in alphabetical order, not a ranking.

Short answer: For a faceless or documentary channel, the right editor depends on budget and format: LIAM starts at $5 with 39 reviews for Vox-style history, Arslan has the most reviews (62) for map documentaries, Barzaan Ali K. bills $9 an hour with 214 Upwork jobs, and Shane Cooke brings TV credits such as History Hit.

Search Fiverr or Upwork for a documentary or faceless editor and you get thousands of gigs sorted by the marketplace's own signals. This page puts the editors creators come across most into one table, with the same public facts for each one (starting price, rating, number of reviews and what their own page says they do), and then sorts them by need: smallest budget, map documentaries, hourly work, television experience, true crime, cash cow channels and new studios.

Everything here was read on the editors' public pages on October 13, 2026, and every row links to its source, so you can check any number in one click. Prices, ratings and review counts change; the date on each row tells you how fresh it is.

From is the lowest-priced package or rate the editor’s own page shows, in USD as the page lists it. What it buys differs (one Short, a few edited minutes, an hour of work), so compare what the package includes, not only the price. Fiverr ratings are for that gig, out of 5; YT Jobs ratings are out of 10 and are left by channel owners; “—” means the page doesn’t show it.

Picks by need

Smallest budget with a review record: LIAM

LIAM's gig for Vox-style history documentaries starts at $5, the lowest per-order price in the table among gigs with at least 10 reviews, with 4.9/5 from 39 reviews (Level 2). Arslan starts at $15 with more reviews.

Map and 3D documentaries, most reviews: Arslan

Arslan's gig has 62 reviews at 5.0/5, the most in the table, for 3D and map documentaries on history, business, sport and crime. Portfolio items are titled “Magnates Media & Johny Harris Style Documentary” and “Glowing Maps Animation Shorts”. Packages run from $15 (a starter documentary) to $100 (a ten-minute map documentary), and the larger ones include an AI-written script and voiceover, so check whether you want that or your own.

Hourly work with the longest Upwork record: Barzaan Ali K.

Barzaan Ali K. lists $9 an hour, 4.9/5 from 58 reviews and 214 completed jobs, for faceless, talking-head, documentary and long-form YouTube videos. The profile also states “1,000+ videos edited” (its own figure). With an hourly rate, agree a cap per video before you start.

Television documentary experience: Shane Cooke

Shane Cooke is a documentary and factual editor whose site lists YouTube work for History Hit and Astrum Earth, and TV credits including “My Wife, My Abuser” (Channel 5 / Netflix), nominated at the BFE Cut Above Awards 2025, and “Churchill's Secret War” (History Hit, 2026). No public price, so ask for a quote.

True crime, scandals and investigations: Gerson, RasZen

Gerson's gig is titled for pro documentary editing and covers scandals, true crime and historical investigations, from $70 for a short edit to $150 for a longer one; the gig has 1 review and the profile 4.9/5 from 85. RasZen, an editing agency, shows crime and bodycam documentaries among its samples, each with its runtime, and names no channels. No public price.

Cash cow and top 10 channels: Aziz Editor, Hasan K.

Aziz Editor's gig covers documentary-style, cash cow, faceless and top 10 videos from $35, with 4.8/5 from 27 reviews. On Upwork, Hasan K. lists documentaries, cash cow channels, talking head and educational videos at $10 an hour, 5.0/5 from 16 reviews and 53 completed jobs.

A new long-form documentary studio: Orange Frame Studios

Orange Frame Studios (founder Mubin) describes long-form and documentary editing with archive footage, motion graphics and sound, from $40. It is a new seller with no reviews yet, so a paid test is the way to judge the work.

How to choose a faceless and documentary editor from this list

  1. Shortlist two editors by need, then compare ratings. The same rating means more on a long review record, and neither tells you whether the editor has cut your format.
  2. Run the same paid test with both. Send each the same raw recording, pay their normal price for one finished video, and compare the first 30 seconds and one random minute on your phone.
  3. Ask what they did on the videos they show. The whole edit, or the intro, thumbnail or Shorts? Some portfolios label it; if not, ask for one full video in your format.
  4. Check the record somewhere the editor doesn’t control. Reviews on Fiverr, Upwork or YT Jobs come from the client’s own account; a client list on a personal site is worth matching against the channel’s uploads. The full checklist: How to check a YouTube editor’s portfolio is real.
  5. Agree on the basics before the first video: turnaround, revisions, who keeps the project files and how you pay. Where to hire a YouTube editor compares how YT Jobs, Fiverr, Upwork and hiring directly handle that.

For documentaries specifically, send a real script and voiceover, not a topic, and ask what footage the editor would use and where it comes from. Archive and stock choices are where faceless videos run into copyright trouble, so ask before the first video, not after.

FAQ

Who is the best faceless or documentary YouTube editor for hire in 2026?

There isn't one best editor for every faceless or documentary channel. On October 13, 2026, LIAM had the lowest per-order starting price among gigs with at least 10 reviews ($5), Arslan had the most reviews (62) for map documentaries, Barzaan Ali K. had the longest Upwork record (58 reviews), and Shane Cooke had television credits. Pick by budget and format, then run a paid test.

How much does a documentary or faceless YouTube editor cost?

Starting prices in this table run from $5 a gig (LIAM) and $9 an hour (Barzaan Ali K.) to $70 (Gerson), counting the pages that publish one. Packages for longer pieces go higher, such as Arslan's $100 for a ten-minute map documentary or José M's $300 top package in the second table. The cost of a documentary depends mostly on length, research and how much footage has to be found. More on that: How much it costs to edit a YouTube documentary.

Should I hire a documentary editor on Fiverr, Upwork or directly?

Each gives you different evidence. Fiverr shows a rating for each gig and runs the order through its own checkout. Upwork shows an hourly rate, reviews and completed jobs. A personal website gives you the editor's own credits and a direct line, which is how most television editors work. Every row in the table says where its data came from; Where to hire a YouTube editor compares the routes in detail.

How do I check that a documentary editor really edited the videos they show?

Ask for one full documentary in your style and open it on the channel itself; ask which part they did (edit, script, voiceover, maps); give more weight to reviews left from the client's own account on Fiverr or Upwork; and run a paid test with your own script and voiceover. Step by step: How to check a YouTube editor's portfolio is real.

Is the author of this list on it?

Yes. I'm Kevin Tabares, one of the editors in the table. My documentary and faceless work is newer than my gaming work: episodes for The Interpreter, which reviewed my work on YT Jobs (10/10), and for The Spy Show, with episodes since September 2026. Judge me by those episodes, the same way you would judge anyone else here.
