Speedrunning YouTube video editor for hire
I’m Kevin Tabares, a long-form YouTube editor. I edit long-form gaming for 1.26M–2.29M-subscriber channels (Mud, Puff, Rex & Alexa) and can edit yours: $55–$150 per finished video depending on complexity; up to $300 for some long or complex edits. My closest work is narrated documentaries with timelines and obbies with attempt counters; I haven’t edited speedrunning videos for a client yet, so start with a free 1-minute test.
Free 1-minute test edit · From $55 per video · No contract · Revisions back within 24 h
9.8/10 average: 20 YT Jobs reviews from 19 client channels, 17 of them a perfect 10/10
Quick fit check: is this editor right for your channel?
- Video types
- Speedrun explained videos (how a game is beaten in minutes), world record histories, route and trick breakdowns, TAS explanations in parts, your own attempts and personal bests, marathon runs
- Editing style
- What I would do for speedrun videos: a timer always on screen, splits and the gap to the record shown clearly, tricks slowed down and labeled the first time they appear, and a world record timeline that tells viewers who held the record and when. Close to the timelines in the documentaries I edit and the attempt counters in Rex & Alexa’s obbies
- Video length
- Speedrun explained channels upload long: Summoning Salt’s recent videos 40 minutes to 1 hour 53, tomatoanus’s 26 minutes to 1 hour 40, Bismuth’s 15 minutes to 2 hours 50 (measured on Oct 18, 2026), so most land in the $300 package or get a custom quote. I also edit longer: Swaylemc’s full movies on my YT Jobs profile run 60 to 234 minutes.
- Upload schedule
- One video only, 1 video per week, 2–3 videos per week, 4 videos per month or several a week (Mud: about 3 a week). Start with one pilot: the free 1-minute test edit.
- Format
- Long-form YouTube videos are the core. YouTube Shorts cut from each long video on request.
- What you send me
- Gameplay and voice recording, ready to edit, or long recordings that need trimming and story building. Separate mic tracks help.
- Estimated price
- About $55 to $150 per finished video (up to $300 for some long or complex edits), depending on length, raw footage and effects. That fits the ‘$50+’ and ‘$100–$300 per video’ boxes for most long videos. Four videos a month: about $220 to $600 (more for long or complex videos); a $500 a month budget usually covers two to four long videos, depending on length. Exact quote within 24 hours, after a free 1-minute test edit.
- Channel size
- From under 1K subscribers (Mr. Marticson, 834) and small to mid-size channels (ThatNoob 4.9K, Crazz 10.7K, DakBlox 82.6K: 0 to 2M+ views in six months) up to 2M+ (Rex 2.29M, Puff 1.83M, Mud 1.26M)
- Turnaround
- First video in 1 to 5 days, then 1 to 2 days; revisions back within 24 hours
- Track record
- Proven YouTube results: 1,250 videos tracked on YT Jobs and 20 reviews from 19 client channels, 17 of them 10/10. Long-term work: Mud since March 2025, about 3 videos a week.
- Who you work with
- Kevin Tabares, directly. I review every video before it reaches you.
- Channel language
- English or Spanish
- Terms
- Paid in USD by PayPal or USDC. No contract, no minimum.
- Closest proof
- I haven’t edited speedrunning for a client yet. Closest long-form work: “The Tenerife Disaster: The Deadliest Crash in Aviation History” on The Interpreter (78K subscribers), 7.7K views; “Imad Mughniyeh: how CIA & Mossad hunted a Hezbollah leader | Real Life Spy Stories” on THE SPY SHOW (832 subscribers), 99 views
My experience and speedrunning, plainly
- Proven: My YT Jobs profile tracks 1,250+ videos and 147M+ views, with 20 client reviews averaging 9.8/10. I edit for Mud (1.26M subscribers), Puff (1.83M) and Rex & Alexa (2.29M); for Mud since March 2025, about 3 videos a week.
- Not proven yet: Speedrunning itself: reading splits, knowing routes and categories (Any%, glitchless), and timing tricks to the frame. My closest work is documentaries on a timeline and obby challenges with attempt counters.
- How to check it before paying: The free 1-minute test edit on your own speedrunning footage, before you pay anything.
Why me
- Timelines and on-screen dates are part of the documentaries I edit now, for The Interpreter and The Spy Show.
- Attempt counters and progress markers in every obby challenge I edit for Rex & Alexa.
What big speedrunning channels upload in 2026
Measured on October 18, 2026, from the 12 most recent long videos of three speedrunning channels: Summoning Salt, Bismuth and tomatoanus. Two formats lead:
- The history of a record: “The History of Cuphead World Records”, “How a Perfect Speedrun Was Finally Beaten”, told as a story of the people who held it.
- The explained run: tomatoanus titles almost every video “How speedrunners beat [game] in [time] (SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED)”, walking through the route step by step.
Bismuth also splits big topics into numbered parts (a Donkey Kong 64 record history in three parts, a Super Mario 64 TAS explained star by star). Summoning Salt’s videos run 40 minutes to 1 hour 53, tomatoanus’s 26 minutes to 1 hour 40, Bismuth’s 15 minutes to 2 hours 50.
How I would edit your speedrunning videos
No speedrunning channel has sent me footage yet, so read this as my plan. It builds on the timelines in the documentaries I edit for The Interpreter and The Spy Show and on the attempt counters in Rex & Alexa’s obby challenges.
A timer that is always there
A speedrun video is about time. I would keep one clean timer on screen during every run segment, in the same place and style all video long, and show the gap to the record when it matters, so viewers feel every second gained or lost.
Tricks slowed down and named once
The first time a trick appears I would slow it down, freeze on the key frame and label it, then let later uses play at full speed. Viewers learn it once and recognize it after, the same way a recurring element in a series is set up once and reused.
A record timeline that tells the story
World record histories jump between years and runners. I would build one timeline graphic with the runner, the time and the date, and update it each time the record falls, the way I keep dates and names clear in the documentaries I edit.
Side by side when runs compete
When two runs or two routes are compared, I would put them side by side with synced timers, so the difference is obvious without a long explanation.
Failed attempts compressed, the good run in real time
For your own attempts I would show the first failure whole so the obstacle is clear, compress the next ones with an attempt counter, and play the successful run close to real time. It is how I cut Rex & Alexa’s obby challenges.
Chapters by route section
For long explained runs I would add YouTube chapters by level or route section, so viewers can jump back to a trick they want to see again.
Closest real examples of my gaming work
Videos I edited whose format sits closest to a speedrun video: documentaries built on a timeline, and obby challenges with attempt counters for Rex & Alexa. Watch the first minute of the one closest to your format.

FAQ
Have you edited speedrunning videos before?
No, I haven’t edited speedrunning videos for a client yet. I have edited narrated documentaries on a timeline for The Interpreter and The Spy Show, and Roblox obby challenges with attempt counters for Rex & Alexa, all on my YT Jobs profile. To see my cut on your own run before you pay, ask for the free 1-minute test edit.
Can you edit my speedrunning videos?
Yes. Send your script or voiceover and the run footage for one section, with your splits if you have them, and I edit one minute of it for free, so you can judge the cut before paying. I edit long-form videos from 10 minutes to several hours, and cut Shorts from them if you want them.
Can you sync a timer to my run footage?
Yes. Send the run with your splits or the timer recording, and I would show one clean timer that matches the run, with the gap to the record when it matters.
Do you know speedrun categories and routes?
Not from experience yet: you bring the route knowledge and the script; I make it easy to follow on screen. The free 1-minute test shows you whether my cut fits your channel.
How much does a speedrunning YouTube editor cost?
My price is $55–$150 per finished video depending on complexity; up to $300 for some long or complex edits. By finished length: up to 10 minutes $55, up to 20 minutes $150, up to 35 minutes $300; longer videos get a custom quote. No contract and no minimum.
